Crisafulli Government is delivering new boating infrastructure for Redlands

The Crisafulli Government is delivering new boating infrastructure for Redlands, including our islands.Redlands residents will soon enjoy better, safer access to Moreton Bay thanks to major boating infrastructure upgrades delivered in the 2025–26 State Budget.

Member for Redlands Rebecca Young MP said two key projects – the new Wallaby Road Boat Ramp and facilities at Redland Bay and the Wahine Drive Boat Ramp upgrade on Russell Island – highlight the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to supporting the region’s outdoor lifestyle.

“Here in Redlands, we love getting out on the water – whether it’s fishing, skiing, paddling a kayak or exploring our Southern Moreton Bay islands,” Mrs Young said.

“These upgrades mean locals and visitors alike will have safe, modern facilities to launch their boats and kayaks, giving more people the chance to enjoy everything our beautiful bay has to offer.”

The Crisafulli Government has committed $2.4 million to deliver a brand-new boat ramp precinct at Wallaby Road, Redland Bay.

Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) has closed tenders for construction, with a contract award due this month and work to commence October 2025.

“We’re anticipating completion by mid-2026 and the new facilities will include a two-lane boat ramp with a central floating walkway, navigational aids and a dedicated canoe ramp.

“With additional investment by Redland City Council, MSQ will also deliver an access road and turning area, street lighting and landscaping, parking for 22 car-trailer units as well as another 18 cars and toilets,” Mrs Young said.

“This new ramp will take pressure off existing boat ramps and make it easier and safer for families, fishing groups and kayakers to enjoy the water.

On Russell Island, the Wahine Drive Boat Ramp is also set for an upgrade, thanks to $800,000 from the 2025–26 Budget.

This project will deliver a new floating walkway to make launching and retrieving vessels safer and more efficient.

The project is currently in the planning and approvals phase, with the tender process to get underway soon and construction to begin in early 2026.

“These upgrades mean Russell Island residents will have a modern facility that supports safe and reliable access to our waterways,” Mrs Young said.

“The investments reflect the Crisafulli Government’s focus on delivering for Redlands families and protecting the lifestyle locals love.

“Redlands offers the best of Queensland living – bush to bay. These new and upgraded facilities will make it easier for everyone to enjoy boating and recreation safely on our bay for generations to come.”
