AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 MINUTES - SATURDAY OCTOBER 4, 2025 Russell Island Recreation Centre 6pm one night only! Tickets on Sale soon! For the first time in history The Bay Island Singers and Canaipa Amateur Theatre Society (CATS) join forces for a one-night-only for an extravaganza: Penned and directed by Farrel Banister with the cast from CATS and the soaring harmonies of the Bay Island Singers, this madcap pantomime-style musical adventure will take you across the Globe - in just 80 minutes. Expect laughter, drama and great songs. Don’t miss out! Tickets on sale soon!

• SUNRISE MARKETS Then every 2ND Sunday of the month. No charge to display and sell anything and everything! Great Food. Rosie’s Coffee stall. Don’t have a garage sale,; come to the Sunrise Sunday Markets instead.

• SHE-NANIGANS GIRLS NIGHT OUT Women only Dance Party. Russell Island RSL Club from 6pm. The last Saturday of every month! RUSSELL ISLAND COMMUNITY ARTS (RICarts)- a COMUNITY BASED ORGANISATION offering Art, Sewing and Craft, Pottery, Ukulele, Wheel Throwing and Mosaics from Monday to Saturday. Gallery is open on weekend as needed. All welcome! COME ALONG TO SEE WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU. While you are here, grab a coffee from ROSIE’S, Island Beans Coffee Cart-Recommended by Restaurant Guru for the 4th Year in a row!

• RUSSELL ISLAND COMMUNITY ARTS (RICArts) – A Non-For Profit Community-based organisation offering Art, Pottery, Ukulele, Sewing, Mosaic and Patchwork classes along with so much more, from Monday to Friday

All welcome! Come along and see what we have to offer you. Find us at Gallery and Art House, entry via Robert St, Russell Island. A short walk from the jetty.

• RICArts has had an exciting month with the start of the 6th Annual Art Competition with the theme of ‘The Dance of Light and Shadow’. Some beautiful artworks entered and lots of community interest received. Exhibition runs until 24 August 2025. Winners announced in next month’s edition.

Also, the Marion and Marloes’ Exhibition Pottery, Pens and Paints was a smashing success. We had community members lining up for all three (3) workshops. Watch this space for their next projects/workshops.

RICArts has a full events Exhibitions/Competition and Workshops calendar for the remainder of the year, with a plethora of exciting events for all the creative artists to get involved in.

• SMBI COMMUNITY CONCERT BAND The island community band started up in 2023 and is happy to welcome new players of all ages and levels on woodwind, brass, percussion and other instruments. Rehearsals are held at the Macleay Island Progress Hall every Sunday of school terms from 2.00-3.30pm. If you are interested just come along and join us! • BERNIE'S ARTISAN MARKET & SOCIAL EVERY 3rd Saturday at the Macleay Island Progress Hall and grounds.

• TENNIS on Macleay and Lamb Islands - The Macleay and Lamb Islands' Tennis Club plays social tennis three times per week: 3pm Monday on Macleay; 4pm Tuesday on Lamb and 2pm or 3pm Thursday on Macleay. Cost is $2 per day. All welcome - our youngest player is 18, the eldest is 88. Send text to Graham 049 295 1458.

• RUSSELL ISLAND SINGERS meet at the Russell Island RSL on Jackson Road, Russell Island every Monday from 3-5pm with afternoon tea included. Cost for new members is $5 week. E info@thebayislandsingers.com

• Macleay Island Ukulele Group - MUGS has been established over 10 Years. Meeting every Friday at The Progress Hall, Russell Terrace, Macleay Island from 12noon - 3pm. • JUSTICE OF THE PEACE - A Justice of the Peace (JP) is now available at Macleay Island Community Library on Fridays from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon.

• Lamb Island Craft Group - 9am to 12pm Tuesdays. LIRA building near Progress Hall. All welcome for good company and a cuppa.

• MACLEAY ISLAND TOURISM CENTRE - The Tourism Centre office is now open at the Macleay Island Community Hall complex. It is open 5 days a week.

• LIONS CLUB COMMUNITY MARKETS are held at the Macleay Island Community Centre on the first Saturday of each month.
