Sealink's second new ferry!

Sealink’s second new vehicle ferry is set to enter service to the SMB Islands possibly early next year.

And Sealink have advised that the name of the new vessel will be Island Venture!

Identical to the Island Odyssey that started its service life earlier this year, the Island Venture will trail its sister ship by about 12 months by the time it enters service in early 2026.

The Island Venture name recognises its role as a sister vessel to Island Odyssey.

It also pays tribute to the old Stradbroke Venture, which served the SMBI community for nearly 40 years before retiring last year.

When the second new vessel enters service, it is sure to have a huge impact on the availability of bookings.

Both of the new vessels have been designed for safety, efficiency and passenger comfort. They greatly increase Sealink’s SMBI vehicle ferry capacity.

Sealink General Manager SE Queensland, Ben Renwick, says the second of the new vessels and its inaugural sister ship are a ‘game changer’ for our islands.

"The introduction of these new generation vehicle ferries reinforces our long-term commitment to the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, ensuring a reliable and efficient transport service that meets the needs of the growing community.”

Islanders who travel regularly via barge are enjoying the new island travel experience, boosted by a 50% fare reduction thanks to the Queensland LNP Government.

Capacity is considerable, which will only increase further when the new Island Venture enters service.
