NEW MANAGER: RUSSELL ISLAND RSL HEADING IN SOME EXCITING DIRECTIONS
There are some major exciting changes occurring at the Russell Island RSL Club.
At the time of reading this, a new committee will be in place, and new manager Jessie Ford will be getting into full stride.
The new directions will be following on from some pretty strong performances by the previous committee headed by Keith Velleman.
This has included major new extensions that are now almost complete.
This whole new extension involves a new manager’s office, a board room, and an RSL returned services lounge. It is pretty impressive stuff.
We recently met with Jessie Ford and she explained some of the other major ‘happenings’ that are soon to follow.
The new committee will be instigating some major interior changes to the club.
Jessie said one new initiative will see the new RSL Lounge made available for private island functions and meetings.
Other extensive works in the coming days will see a new poker machine area developed in the area that was once the TAB area of the club. This area will be serviced by an independent bar.
A major wall that currently separates the existing poker machine area will be removed and will allow for the expansion of the dining room seating area.
All together with the current and new additions and re-arranging, the Russell Island RSL Club will be virtually a new premises.
There are other changes happening in membership services such as the introduction of Happy Hours and a range of new drink offerings.
This will include a new Glycol service system that produces the iciest of cold beers and there will be a much larger range of beers on tap including Coopers pale ale, and CUB brews.
Also, Jessie wants members to keep a lookout for an exciting new cocktail service starting soon.
By the way, many of these new selections will be in place by the Easter long weekend that can be enjoyed at the club.
And don’t forget Anzac Day at the Club. It will open its doors after the Dawn Service for drinks and gunfire breakfast on Friday, April 25.
