 • The MIAC Wearable Art Competition •  The art event is open to MIAC Members and Non Members across the SMB Islands. There are several very exciting categories including Recycled (creatively turning old into new); Oceana (think mythical/ocean), Ohh La La that is all things glam; and Best Headpiece to go with any of the above categories.  For entry forms email info@miac.org.au - endless possibilities are coming! ENTRIES CLOSE January 15.



• SUMMER READING Redland City Council Libraries are bringing back the Redlands Coast Summer Reading Challenge after the success of the inaugural event last year. The 2024 Redlands Coast Summer Reading Challenge was launched at Victoria Point Library recently with special guest children's author and performer Jack Carty. Parents and caregivers can do the challenge with babies and toddlers, as well as support their school-aged children to complete the reading challenge. It is free to enter the challenge. • AUSTRALIA DAY JANUARY 26

Get ready for an unforgettable Australia Day celebration on Sunday, January 26th, 2025! BIMSARA is proud to present a free family fun day event with an extravaganza of entertainment, food, and exciting activities for all age groups, to be held at the Resilience Centre and sporting fields on Russell Island.


• SOCCER AUSTRALIA DAY SIGN ON

Australia Day will be our Bay Islands United Soccer Sign On from 9.30 and after a light training session will have a Parents verse Team Players for 2025 season, while our Fun Under 9`s will start with an hour bubble soccer thanks to BIMSARA, then the Players will have an hour followed by any older Children & Adults who like a run out. Running Wild will run a cricket match after lunch. We will have Sausages & drinks for a gold coin donation from mid-day. So come join us & let’s see how many teams Bay Islands United will enter into the Football Queensland League for the 2025 season. Training will start in February for Tuesday & Thursday along with Saturday`s so follow us on our Facebook page : bayislandsunitedfc

• SHE-NANIGANS GIRLS NIGHT OUT Women only Dance Party. Russell Island RSL Club from 6pm. The last Saturday of every month!

• RUSSELL ISLAND COMMUNITY ARTS (RICArts) – A community-based organisation offering Art, Sewing, Pottery, Ukulele, Mosaic and Craft sessions from Monday to Friday! • Members’ General Exhibition including Annual $50 and under Sale – Until 14 January 2024 Pop into The Farm, Arthouse & Gallery and snap up an arty Christmas gift or two. • SMBI COMMUNITY CONCERT BAND The island community band started up in 2023 and is happy to welcome new players of all ages and levels on woodwind, brass, percussion and other instruments. Rehearsals are held at the Macleay Island Progress Hall every Sunday of school terms from 2.00-3.30pm. If you are interested just come along and join us! • TENNIS on Macleay and Lamb Islands - The Macleay and Lamb Islands' Tennis Club plays social tennis three times per week: 3pm Monday on Macleay; 4pm Tuesday on Lamb and 2pm or 3pm Thursday on Macleay.
