CAR SHOW A HIT

 MACLEAY ISLAND CHRISTMAS PARADE AND CLASSIC CAR SHOW A HIT

The Bay islands Classic Car Club Car Show in association with the Macleay Island Christmas Parade on December 7, has proved extremely popular.

The vehicles attended included Police, Ambulance, Fire Brigade, Bay Islands Auto Club Classic cars (20 in total) and floats from local businesses (15 in total) making a parade of over 40 vehicles 

Redlands City Council Mayor, Jos Mitchell and her husband Scott attended in their personal classic MGB form 1967. 

Jos and Scott were the judges for the best Christmas decorated vehicles. 

The event was an excellent joint effort between the Lions Club, Bay Islands Auto Club and the local volunteers. 

Lions Club organised a record of 35 local markets stalls. Some highlights:

• Mayor Jos Mitchell and husband Scott in the 1967 MGB 

• Prizes awarded to the three best Christmas Decorated vehicles, Mark and Jessica Peacock in their 1969 Ford Fairlane from Karragarra. 

• Mathew “Robbo” Robins in Ford 1938, from Macleay. 

•  John Cogan 1962, EK Holden from Russell Island. 

• Prizes were given to the best Christmas decorated 

Bikes, Poppy Stephenson & Austin Kier, Scooters Phoebe and Oliver. 

Music during the morning was provided by Bay Islands Coral Group, 

the SMBI Band and the Macleay Islands Ukulele Group. 

Sealink assisted with 10 Barge Vouchers for transport including the 

Mayor’s MGB form the mainland and the Auto Club vehicles from Russell, Lamb and Karragarra Islands. Macleay Hardware assisted with Gift Vouches
