SUNBIRD NEW HOME CARE PROVIDER
A new NDIS provider to our islands is Sunbird Home Care. Their mission is to offer person-centred home care that supports loved ones in their place of living, and have expanded throughout Queensland since establishment in Cairns in 2022. The latest expansion entails delivering our services to Redlands and the islands via speedboat. “The people requiring NDIS or aged care services in the island communities need greater access to those services.” – Sunbird Home care Managing Director Lindsay Stewart. We are proud to be able to meet those needs and deliver nursing care via speedboat.” A registered NDIS provider, Sunbird Home Care offers personal care for 6-24 hours, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care, hospice care, and welfare checks. We also provide 8-12-hour support for self-managed aged care participants. Their registered nurses administer medication, dress wounds, monitor vital signs, insert intravenous catheters, create care plans, document patient information, prepare patients for discharge, and educate patients and their families about various illnesses and treatments. MEL’S JETTY COFFEE CO FIVE YEARS ON!
Mel Worrad and her now famous Jetty Coffee Co is still making a difference at the Translink Marina at Weinam Creek. Mel and her great crew of seven have been serving up the best in coffee, food and snacks at the terminal now for an amazing five years! Nat and Jake have been there for the entire 5 years. By far our highest selling food item is the humble bacon, egg and cheese muffin with a delicious tomato chutney, we make around 100 of these every week! For those that have more time Jetty Coffee Co is the perfect place to sit by the water and enjoy a cuppa while watching the boats and surrounding bird life. The new SMBI Appliance Store on Russell Island is off to great start! Following their announcement and feature in our June edition, the response from islanders has been nothing short of spectacular. Sharyn Walker, the owner of the recently launched SMBI Appliance store, says the opening and since has been ‘extraordinary’. Clearly islanders are happy they can now purchase the full range of electrical goods right here at our new Russell Island store, without having to the trouble of organising ‘everything’ to get electrical appliances to the islands from the mainland. “You can buy it here and we will deliver to your island home,” Sharyn Walker said. A new concreting service to the islands is Nature Concrete Co. The business is operated by couple Daniel and Skye Stubbs. They are available for all types of concrete work including residential house slabs, pathways, driveways, shed and water tanks slabs. They also handle all aspects of commercial work. nature Concrete Co are specialists in high quality presentation such as coloured concrete, honed, polished and seeded work. it is good to know that they specialise in Epoxy surfacing which can turn plain looking concrete into a masterpiece. July 20th is our home games for our Under 10`s Curlews & Under 13`s Canaipa Bullsharks & with the Adults game of Russell verse Macleay Sunday July 7th from 10am. August 3rd , 17th & then 31st our final home game & presentation day after our AGM meeting. Adults will again battel it out on Sunday 11th from 10am..
